INFO FOR MORRIS DANCERS
DRINKING
First the important bit!
There are many good pubs around the city
centre where you will be made
welcome. Under Venues you will see
some recomendations. However,
please respect the licensing laws.
At those pubs with outside seating areas
you can only drink within those areas.
The landlords have to enforce these
regulations otherwise they have
problems with the licensing authority.
Please do not attempt to consume
food or drink not purchased from the
pub, this is simply good manners.

TRAVELLING TO NOTTINGHAM
The city is well served by public
transport. The railway station and
Broad Marsh bus station are close to
the city centre and are marked on the
map. Car parking is available at the
NCP car park next to the Vat and
Fiddle (see map) at £2.50 per day but
if you are unfamiliar with the city
centre you might find it easier to use
one of the park and ride schemes.
see the link below to the City Council
website for more details.

REGISTRATION
On arrival please head to the Old
Market Square. This will be easy to
find as at great expense and with the
assistance of the City Council we
have erected a big O in the Market
Square representing the O of Open
Morris.
Alternatively, you could regard
it as a Ring emblem and there must
surely be a prize for whoever can
think of a spurious link to the
Federation.
Please register at the Morris Shop in the Market Square,
this should be located between the O
and the Council House. Registration
is from 10am. You will need to
collect your Nottingham Revels
badges and collecting tin.
There will be a prize of vouchers to spend in the
Morris Shop for whichever side
collects the most. We need to collect
as much as possible to cover the
costs of the day, that O was
expensive!.
There will be a welcome from the
Sheriff of Nottingham at 10.10am at
the Council House and it would be
good if as many of you as possible
could be around for this. After the
welcome the dancing will start with
the youth sides in the Market Square.
Rapper sides' body clocks are
naturally attuned to pub opening
hours and so can register 10.30am - 10.45am.

DANCING
The Morris tours will be at 14
locations around the City Centre.
Each group of sides will have four
dance slots of 45 minutes and an
hour off for lunch at either 12.30pm or
1.30pm. Over the lunch period the
number of venues will shrink to 8.
If everything works to plan each side
will dance with different sides
throughout the day and at different
locations.
Please get to your venue on time and allow yourself enough
time to get to the next one. For many
of you it's a long way to come to
stand around so just get on with the
dancing!
At 3.30pm we all meet up in
the Old Market Square for the
Massed Dancing and this should be
finished by 4.30pm.
We will do the following dances from the different traditions:
- North West - Plymouth Reel
- Border - Much Wenlock
- Cotswold - William and Nancy (Bledington)
...and a Rapper Dance yet to be decided.
We might do some more if time allows.
As they will not have had much, if any, chance to dance during the day Lady
Bay Revellers will also do a dance.

RAPPER TOUR
The Rapper Tour will be at various
city centre pubs, so please search
them out.
You can download the Rapper Tour schedule from HERE or pick
one up from the Morris Shop when you register.

MARSHALS
Marshalling will be provided by local
sides familiar with Nottingham. They
should be easily identifiable from their
nice high visibility waistcoats.
Would marshals please get to their allotted
venue early so that visiting sides can
see where they should be.
The marshals should be able to direct you
to your next venue and suggest the
best pub to go to for lunch.

NHS WALK-IN CENTRE
I am assured each side has their own
insurance cover and will provide their
own First Aid.
In the event of anything
more serious you may visit the NHS
walk in centre which is next to the
BBC East Midlands (towards the
bottom right hand corner on the map).

CASTLE ROCK BREWERY
Nottingham's largest brewery is
supporting the day and you can try
their wares at The Lincolnshire
Poacher, Kean's Head, News House,
Canal House or Vat and Fiddle.
The Lincolnshire Poacher might be a little far for a
lunchtime stroll but the others are in
easy walking distance (see the map).

LEAFLETS
With any luck we will obtain
permission to hand out leaflets to
interested bystanders.
If you see any discarded leaflets please pick them
up - Keep Nottingham Tidy!
